Iran National Museum exhibits repatriated relics from Italy

The ancient Iranian artifacts repatriated from Italy are on display in Tehran.

The ancient Iranian artifacts repatriated to the country from Italy have been showcased for the public in Tehran’s National Museum.

The 30 ancient Iranian artifacts were found in Italy by the Italian cultural property police and sent back to Iran several months ago.

The exhibited items include pottery, porcelain, enamel, clay figurines, seals and very rare jewels and ornaments which belong to the third and first millennia BC, Parthian Empire (247 BC - 224 AD) and the Islamic Golden Age, eighth and ninth centuries.

Seized from smugglers in Italy, the artifacts were identified by specialists of the National Museum of Oriental Art in Rome to have eastern and most likely Persian origins.

Many ancient Iranian artifacts are on display in various countries of the world and have so many visitors.

Started on January 3, the exhibition will continue for a month.
